This is the story of how “ Little Visitors of Vegas Inc.” was founded in 2002 And Why?
Las Vegas 1st. Youth Orientated Travel & Tourism Service, That caters specifically to the visiting youth of Las Vegas, Nevada. And the surrounding areas, as safe alternative for the visiting parents traveling with their children, teens and young adults.

Las Vegas is well known as “The Entertainment Capital of The World” one of the most traveled destinations in America. With over 50 million visitors per year coming from all over the world.
More than half are parents traveling with their children teens and young adults.

The overwhelming majority of People who decided to visit Las Vegas as an travel destination have second thoughts about bringing the kids along. A fact that speaks volumes about the validity of our operation. “Little Visitors of Vegas Inc.” is an home based business.

Although Las Vegas has been established for centuries, It too has to change with the times,
Hosting thousands of conventions per yr. some of the Working parents are forced to come to these conventions because of their jobs, Why not make it a family vacation ? It begins with our staff, a group of very energetic and is unmatched. They bring not just a wealth of different cultural backgrounds from around the world to each tour, but also a world of enthusiasm. That have been over-looked for many years, That Now, Will be addressed by our organization
Because we feel that its time for a change.
(1.) By creating new jobs in the field of travel & tourism for the at risk youth , Teens and young Adults of Las Vegas. Thereby helping to boost our weakened economy.
( 2.) Preventing Child Abandonment - In many cases parents are still leaving their unsupervised children
Alone inside these Hotels and Casino’s and their Hotel rooms causing potential danger as well as a large number of incident related accidents on some Hotel properties.
(3.) Preventing -The Possible arrest of the visiting teens and young adults. Because most parents are not aware of “ The Curfew” on “The Las Vegas Strip” and that unaccompanied minors are sometimes arrested because of it.

We Think that this venture will make us all feel stronger as a person, knowing that We Did Something about the problem facing many of the visitors today, By providing transportation and offering entertainment and mentally stimulating activities. That maybe one less child would become a victim,
Because our society decided to close their eyes to the fact that , The Children of Nevada had:
NO WHERE TO GO !

As have many in the past, Although Las Vegas is “ The Entertainment Capital of The World “

Now trying to change it’s image, to a place for the family to come and have the time of their lives,
One of the most important issues have been overlooked for far too many years.
What About The Children ?
Our kids are our future, if you have ever heard the saying “ The family that plays together stays together”
Probably haven’t been to Vegas, together as a family yet? But, if your one of the families that have visited there before with your children teens and /or young adults, you know for yourself that bringing the family
Along was not one of the brightest ideas you’ve ever had. If you’re a good parent, you can bet! That you had to spend a lot of time inside your hotel room.

Because after taking the kids to “ The Indoor Amusement Park “ at Circus - Circus, Hotel and casino, and the Game Works located on “ The Las Vegas Strip” There’s really nothing else for the kids to do.
As a mother of 4 visiting Las Vegas for the first time in (1995) was quite and experience, as a parent, you’ll find yourself facing the problem head on, with very few options, (A) Husband & Wife, Could leave the kids alone unsupervised inside the hotel room? And only hope that they will be alright, or
(B) Take turns watching the kids in the hotel room, while your partner go out to do adult things alone, and /or gamble in the casino’s maybe even drinking and being served by one of the hottest waitress on the floor. Or ( C ) just walk around outside for a few hours with the kids sightseeing. It’s funny but, for many years these we’re the only options.

Soon, The Hotel / Casino’s we’re realizing there was a problem, And began to install Arcades and Game-rooms, on their properties to keep the parents inside of their hotel’s. But some parents were beginning to leave them there thinking that because they were on the hotel properties, It would be safe to leave them there at the Arcades. After all they had camera’s everywhere its an casino. And the Visiting parents assumed that their children would be ok because they were in a safe place. Everyone Did it!

Until May 25th 1997 , A Tragic Day, The day that a beautiful little African American

Child Lost her Life, This innocent little girl by the name of :
“Sherrice Iverson “ age 7,
Was slain in an Arcade restroom stall, she was kidnapped, raped, and strangled in a bathroom stall
The Media Deemed This senseless and viscous attack on a 7year old little girl,
“ A Deadly Game of Hide and Seek “

Because the surveillance cameras caught it on tape, the 7year old victim playing with the
18 year old Perpetrator, in what looked like a game of hide & seek.
After an initial burst of public rage directed at the victims father, for leaving her unattended
at a gambling casino in the early morning hours, the case was dropped quickly from sight.

As a mother, I could almost feel the pain of that precious child’s mother, And I knew then that something had to be done to prevent anything like this from ever happening again , I began to write, anyone and everyone that I could think of, government officials ,congressmen ,the mayor, even Washington DC.
But, my letters went unanswered, A year later the public learned that the 18 yr. old white high school.
Student, that committed this Horrible Crime, Had a friend there at the time of the attack, looked on and witnessed at lease the beginning of it watched it happen, then calmly walked away, never even tried to alert the police. This was appalling and it was then that I birthed “Little Visitors of Vegas “

Petitions we’re being signed , they we’re everywhere, the grocery stores, libraries, people we’re even standing in the streets protesting after learning that there was NO LAW in Place. To punish people who fail to act when they witness such attacks on a child. No Law Against It ?

I couldn’t believe it, This was like a slap in the face, This touched off protest ,marches, demonstrations and rallies demanding that the friend/witness to the crime be prosecuted as an accessory to the murder.
The media finally began to pay some attention after Iverson’s mother publicly demanded that Nevada authorities prosecute this friend as well. Even this did not draw the sort of media coverage that would lead to a human interest stories on Iverson and her family, There was not one word on the Pain and Suffering of those in Sherrice’s Family.

But, the petitions we’re signed because of the fact that, there were No law against the friend watching the brutal attack, or walking away without alerting the police.

In September of “98” The Iverson slaying prompts “Good Samaritan Bill”
Petitions were sign with over 20,000 signatures, The Good Samaritan - was renamed:
“The Sherrice Iverson Bill” in Nevada the Casino’s made changes and did away with
Arcades all together but very little was done about the problems at hands.

In August of “2002”
The California State Legislature passed the Sherrice Iverson Bill
And it was signed into Law By Gov. Gray Davis
The Legislation, Authored by Assemblyman Tom Torlakson
( D - Antioch) makes it a crime to witness the sexual assult of a minor
Without Notifying the Police.

The Sherrice Iverson Law - To punish people who fail to act when they witness such attacks
Failure to notify a peace officer of a sexual attack or physical assault on anyone under the age of
14 is now a misdermeanor punishable by a fine of up to $1,000. And a year in jail.

This Law made history as THE 1st. Law In The History of The American Criminal Justice System
Named After An African American.. “ A Ftting Tribute To a Murdered Child”
It took years and the lost of a child’s life to bring awareness to a problem that have been over-looked .
